Converge ICT Solutions Completes Mindanao Redundancy Loop
Converge ICT Solutions, one of the country’s top telecommunications service provider, has strengthened its network hold in the Mindanao region through a redundant fiber backbone. Deemed as the Mindanao Redundancy Loop, Converge completed the installation of a 90,000-kilometer pure fiber backbone to improve connectivity in the area and curtail issues on unexpected cable breaks.
This loop transverses from Cagayan de Oro to areas in Mindanao such as Tagum, Davao, and Valencia. A data center in Davao is currently in the works to further strengthen network reliability and speed in the Mindanao region.
According to Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy, “As we continue to pursue our Go National strategy through 2022, we want to make sure that we have high service availability for our subscribers in Visayas and Mindanao. With the redundancy ring completed, we’re significantly reducing the chances of service outages since we now have an alternative network route in place.”
Converge first set foot in Mindanao in April of last year, but since then, the ISP group has laid down more than 100,000 lines in Davao and Cagayan de Oro. Thus, doubling their subscriber list. And big things are still in the pipeline for Converge. As their goal is to support 55% of the Philippines households by 2023, bigger projects are to be expected from them – all in the spirit of making sure every Filipino has access to quality broadband.
